I Don’t Usually Link to Things, But…

03:36 PM

I PROUDLY PRESENT the past fifteen-and-a-half months of my life. Everything you see was converted from flat image files of what the site should look like to actual HTML by lil’ old me. Everything else — from the art to the programming — was not. W00t!

And every single part of the site was coded in nothing more than a text editor. Double w00t.

Busy Bee

03:48 PM

Man, this posting thing is hard. My fingers are creaking with all this strenuous activity.

So today is the Newgrounds site redesign launch. It marks the culmination of over a year of continuous work with precious little to show for it. Until today.

Also exciting is that my father-in-law, Zoltan, is living with us now. He arrived Thursday, we bought tools and building materials Friday, did another round of demolition over the weekend, and we’ll keep at it all through the summer. Work, housework, school (for Dia), repeat. I’m taking a few breaks for Comicon in San Diego for work, Andy’s bachelor party, and a week in Virgina Beach with my family (all sans-Dia) but when I’m in town Newgrounds is my only solace.

The next milestone is Wednesday, when the second 30-yard dumpster (in a word: ginormous) will be loaded with the rest of our demolition waste. After that it’s mostly construction, wiring, and installation.

I had considered posting somewhat daily updates on the process — complete with before and after photos — but all the pictures are still on my camera and I wouldn’t know where to begin anyway. We had been taking quite a bit of footage using Lisa’s digital camcorder, so eventually I’ll edit something together for playback during a housewarming event. In November.
